NZ Bakels are now preparing for another year of the Bakels New Zealand Supreme Pie Awards with the theme of… GREAT PIE MOMENTS IN FILM… Lights…. Camera……. Action.Throughout cinema history there have been many stars. Some enjoy the limelight briefly, and others last a few years. Only one star has stood the test of time, appearing in hundreds of movies from box office hits to art films and cult classics ever since motion pictures began. The ultimate all-time star is of course the great kiwi pie. It’s a known fact that the humble pie has featured in more films than any other screen legend. Now in 2010 the pie takes its place amongst the movie greats as the star of the Bakels New Zealand Supreme Pie Awards. A list of premium ingredients, mouth watering recipes and timehonoured traditions has made the pie a star for decades so this year the film academy and NZ Bakels will place the pie up where it belongs, in the cinema hall of fame The awards evening will be a star studded gala event, themed on an old time picture palace to capture the romance and glamour of the golden years old motion pictures.
